A grand prize for Swansea University graduate

A SWANSEA University graduate has won a 1,000 prize as part of a major initiative by the British Council.

Pavan Kumar Sriram has won the South East final in the Shine International Students Awards 2011.

Mr Sriram graduated from Swansea University in 2010 with a first class honours degree in Computational Mechanics.

He won the Shine Award after writing a letter to his aunt, in India about his 'out-of-class' achievements and his passion for student life in the UK.

He said: "Winning this prestigious Shine award, in the face of strong competition, has inspired me to continue to work with the local community to help motivate young people to gain the social and vocational skills that they need to achieve their personal dreams and ambitions."
