Farm fun day brings spirit of Easter to youngsters

Newborn lambs and baby ducks helped youngsters get into the holiday spirit on Easter Saturday.

Beaumont Shopping Centre, in Beaumont Leys, Leicester, hosted an Easter Farm Fun Day where children could hold animals and learn more about them from animal expert Stephen Rowlands.

Priyan Manek, 10, enjoyed a cuddle with Larry the lamb while other youngsters petted rabbits, chicks, guinea pigs, hamsters, ducklings and an unusual South American animal called a coatimundi.

Two-year-old Tiachannay Woolman spent hours meeting all the animals on display.

Animal-lover Amber Hendry, 14, had a brilliant day with her sister helping out on the farm.

Sarah Duffin, centre manager, said: "Amber and her sister have attended all the animal events we have run at the centre for the past few years so when they asked if they could help out with the animals today, we were delighted for them to join in."

Also on hand to entertain the children was comedian Farmer Giles, who needed the children's help to run around the centre looking for his lost animals.

Children also watched the animal puppet show and listened to storytelling.

They could also make chicks and rabbits on sticks to take home from the Easter craft workshop.

Shoppers will be able to see photos from the day on the centre's facebook page, go to.
