New dual carriageway plans go on show to Port Talbot residents

HARBOUR Way is going on display in Port Talbot to tell residents all they need to know about the town's 107 million new dual carriageway.

The team behind the massive civil engineering project will be available to talk to visitors at the Aberafan Shopping Centre next Monday and Tuesday.

Representatives of contractor Costain will bring detailed display boards and an aerial shot of the town with the layout of the road superimposed on top.

The dual carriageway, financed by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Regional Development Fund, is the biggest transport project the town has seen since the construction of the M4.

Costain has already started major construction work with the relocation of a railway signal in April and construction of the first of seven roundabouts beginning near the A48 off Junction 38 of the M4 at Margam.

Project manager John Skentelbury said: "We want to meet with the community at the most convenient venues for them and obtain feedback to ensure that we improve our performance."

Council environment director John Flower added: "Once complete, Harbour Way will make a huge difference to the flow of traffic, bringing benefits for everyone."
