Manchester City's morale is good and we want third place, says Johnson

? United win made us stronger, winger adds
? 'I've not been in a better dressing room for banter'

Adam Johnson has contradicted the view that Manchester City's dressing room is far from harmonious. "A lot is made of us not being a close group but I have not been in a better dressing room for banter and the lads knitting as one," said the England winger.

He believes City's team spirit was bolstered by their win against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final. "The result against United has made us even stronger. Hopefully now we will push on, make history and then add more trophies next season."

Roberto Mancini's side face Stoke City in the FA Cup final and look likely to finish fourth, thereby reaching the Champions League qualification round. "We still have some work to do to make sure we get into the Champions League, but it is our position to lose now," Johnson said.

Even so, there is a feeling Manchester City have underachieved. "Before the start of season we wanted to be in top two," he added. "A lot of people think we should have been in the title race and there were a few games we should have won but didn't. I'm personally disappointed that with the squad we've got, we're not fighting for the title.

"It's a learning process and, hopefully, that won't be the case next season. we know what it's about now, we'll be in the mix next time. But we have been in the top four all season and might even finish higher than fourth. We've still got a slim chance of getting third and we'll keep pushing."
