European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi, EU Economy Commissioner Olli Rehn and US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner were also scheduled to weigh in on discussions at the conference in Davos, Switzerland.
As they were meeting in the mountain resort, EU affairs ministers were due to iron out remaining differences on the fiscal compact in Brussels, with the aim of getting this budget discipline pact approved at an EU summit on Monday.
Rifts within the bloc on how to solve the crisis emerged also in Davos this week. German Chancellor Angela Merkel rejected demands for a bigger German contribution to euro area firewalls, while her British counterpart, David Cameron, called for widening the rescue mechanisms. - Sapa-dpa
