Josephine Goodwin's love of music has helped secure her an apprenticeship as part of the Leicester Mercury's challenge.
The 19-year-old came forward after reading about our campaign to match 100 people to 100 apprenticeships.
We have joined forces with Leicester College and have so far matched 30 apprentices to employers in the city and county.
Josephine is now studying for a one-year business administration apprenticeship with Leicester firm 2Funky Arts, which is based in Belgrave Gate.
The not-for-profit social enterprise company helps fund youth projects and learning programmes inspired by art and music.
Its sister firm 2Funky is a commercial business which sells clothing and music, and also promotes gigs.
Josephine, who lives in Kirby Muxloe, will be working across both businesses to develop her skills.
She said: "It's perfect for me because I love music of all genres and I can draw on that in my work here.
"I also enjoy being hands-on, so an apprenticeship is ideal because it enables me to earn some money at the same time as getting a qualification, which I hope will stand me in good stead for the future.
"Everyone here has been really supportive and I've learned so much already.
"I have only been here three weeks but I've loved every minute.
"I know there's still lots more to learn.
"It's great that I can put my love of music to good use."
Director Vijay Mistry said: "We have people covering various areas of the company but thought it made sense to train someone to know each of those and have a general overview of how it all worked.
"There's so much for Josephine to do and learn, from customer services and marketing on the retail side, to organising gigs and working with young people.
"She really shone at interview and her passion for music was obvious.
"She's got a great deal of enthusiasm and we're really pleased with the work she's been doing already."
So far, 1,621 potential apprentices have come forward along with more than 60 companies looking to take someone on.
But we are still looking to hear from more.
Apprenticeships can cover a range of employment, from the hospitality industry and health and social care to engineering, hairdressing, retail and business.
