Swansea head for the sunshine to recover from Norwich smash and grab

? Swansea take Tenerife break 'to recharge batteries'
? Lambert dismisses talk of European place for Norwich

Brendan Rodgers is taking his Swansea players on a break to Tenerife this week, and will doubtless be keen not to dwell on a disastrous 16-minute spell against Norwich that condemned the Welsh side to only their second home league defeat of the season.

The Swansea squad head for a Canary Islands training camp that the manager hopes will boost his squad before they return to action against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium in two weeks' time.

"It's such a demanding league," said Rodgers. "It is a wonderful journey but our plan was always to look at critical moments of the season and we felt it would be an important period. This gives us a chance to recharge our batteries and refresh our minds.

"What I have said is we can't afford to daydream. If you look forward and say we are in the league for next season, you don't realise there is a lot of work to do. There are 13 games to go and we have put ourselves in a brilliant position so I can't have too many complaints. But we have to take each game as it comes and continue to work hard.

"We weren't at our best against Norwich, we deserved something from the game but didn't get it. We are not a team that can afford to have a few players not perform, we have to have our foot to the floor with eight, nine or 10 players performing well."

Having led by a Danny Graham goal at the break, the hosts allowed Norwich to score three times in 16 minutes, with two goals from Grant Holt and one deflected strike from Anthony Pilkington.

Although Graham pulled a goal back late on after Holt conceded a penalty, Norwich defied a barrage of Swansea pressure, with John Ruddy making an outstanding save from Steven Caulker's header to secure the three points.

The victory moved Norwich up to eighth place. But despite their lofty position, the manager Paul Lambert, like Rodgers, is choosing only to focus on keeping his side in the top flight. Lambert has told his players they must retain the "fear" of defeat if they are to prosper.

"The fear drives you on, once you lose that then it can come back and bite you so until someone tells me it's over, only then will I believe it," said Lambert.

"The players know my attitude by now, that you can never rest when you have success and you have to keep on going, they have bought into it and been fantastic. But I am only looking at Europe in terms of going on holiday."
