Wladimir Klitschko floors Tony Thompson to retain world titles

? Klitschko lands big right hand to end fight in sixth round
? Ukrainian always in control against 40-year-old challenger

Wladimir Klitschko retained his WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles with a sixth-round stoppage of Tony Thompson in Berne on Saturday night.

Thompson never recovered from a big right hand in the fifth round at the Stade de Suisse and the referee ended the contest after the 36-year-old champion again floored the 40-year-old mandatory challenger.

The Ukrainian was always in control of the bout after a cagey opening round and improved to 58-3 in his career ? 51 by KO ? while Thompson fell to 36-3 (24 KO).

The pair had previously met in 2008, Klitschko knocking out Thompson in the 11th round.
