Playgroup celebrates

A church playgroup is preparing to celebrate its 21st birthday with a reunion party.

Noah's Ark Playgroup has been meeting at Coalville's Pentecostal Church, in James Street, since 1990.

It was set up by four young mothers as an outreach project for the church, and since then more than 1,000 toddlers have passed through its doors.

To mark the anniversary, children and parents are invited to a reunion party later in the summer.

Manager Sharon Ellison, one of the founding mums, said: "The four of us attended the church and asked if we could run a parents and toddlers group. It was very popular and the playgroup followed a few months later.

"Both have gone from strength to strength and we now have up to 40 children each day."

She added: "Many of our former children are grown up now and it would be fantastic to catch up and share memories."

The reunion will be held at Hugglescote Working Men's Club, in Dennis Street, on Saturday, June 11, at 7pm.

There will be a buffet, disco and a display of old photos.
