Neath woman car-jacked while test driving a BMW

A NEATH woman has been left shaken after two men car-jacked the BMW she was test driving.

Police in Neath Port Talbot are appealing for witnesses and investigating the "unusual" theft which took place in the Llandarcy area.

The victim, a 26-year-old, had taken a black BMW 1 Series for a test drive from the Corner Park car sales on Fabian Way at around 2pm.

On her way back towards Jersey Marine, near the gas distribution depot on the B4290, she was flashed down by a green coloured Ford Focus.

She was then approached by two men from the car, who told her to get out of the BMW which they then drove off.

A third person drove off in the Ford Focus.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Davies of Neath Port Talbot CID said: "This is a very unusual incident and although the victim was unhurt it has left her shaken.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the two vehicles near the entrance of the gas depot between Llandarcy and Jersey Marine between 2pm and 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon to come forward.

"The stolen BMW has yet to be traced and therefore we are also appealing for any sightings of this vehicle since 2pm on Sunday.

"Numerous enquiries into this incident have already been carried out and we are appealing for the public's help for information about this crime."

The Ford Focus has been described by the witness as being green in colour, in a similar shade to a Granny Smith apple.

The BMW, that has the registration of RF07 MVH, contained the victim's handbag.

It has been described as a black satchel design with a zip and tassels containing a pink purse which had an inscription on it.

One of the suspects is described as being white, aged around 30 with a young-looking face.

He was of stocky build and was around 6ft in height with a shaved head and was wearing a red T-shirt.

The second male was also white, aged around 30, of stocky build. He wore dark clothing and had short dark hair.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact South Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
