Cork clubs put 22 proposals through on how to select hurling manager

THE proposals put forward by clubs on who will sit on committee to select the next Cork senior hurling manager

1. Three executive committee members, one senior club delegate, one premier intermediate/intermediate club delegate and one junior club delegate. Manager to pick his own selectors and be appointed for a three year term. (Cork County Board Executive).

2. Two executive committee members, one senior delegate, one intermediate delegate and one junior delegate. (Glanworth)

 
3. Three delegates from clubs and two officers of the county board. (Sarsfields)

4. Two executive committee members and three club representatives. (Fermoy)

5. Cork county board chairman, Cork county board PRO, one senior hurling club representative, one intermediate hurling club representative and one junior hurling club representative. (Passage West)

6. Three county board officers, three county board delegates and Jerry O’Sullivan to chair the committee. (Ballinora)

7. Club delegates, county board executive delegates and delegate from county senior hurling champions. (Ballincollig)

8. Three county board officers, one senior club delegate, one premier intermediate/intermediate club delegate, one junior club delegate and an independent chairperson to be nominated by the executive and approved by a county board meeting. (Youghal)

 9. Executive committee of the county board to pick the next manager. (Lisgoold)

 
10. Three executive committee members, three club delegates and a nominee from the teams who participated in the 2011 county SHC. (Lyre)

 

11. One executive committee member, three delegates (one each from junior, intermediate and senior hurling clubs) and one All-Ireland winning ex manager. Detailed job specification to be compiled by committee and in consultation with three previous All-Ireland winning managers. Applications sought through Cork GAA website and press. All applicants to be interviewed by five-man committee and a shortlist delivered to the clubs by email. Delegates then vote on their clubs instructions. (Banteer)

15. County board chairman plus one executive member, two county board delegates and one past player who has not played inter-county hurling in the past five years. This player to be nominated by the current Cork senior hurling panel. (Ballinhassig)

 

16. Chairman of the county board, three former Cork players (who are not interested in manager role) and one current player. Former players should be nominated or approached by county board or clubs. If more than three players are nominated, then names should be put into a hat and three names drawn. Selection committee can then approach candidates for the Cork manager role, alternatively candidates can put their name forward to a committee member for consideration. (Kildorrery)

 

17. Executive member, board member, present team captain and two retired All-Ireland winning captains. (Macroom)

 

18. Expressions of interest to be sought publicly from people who may wish to take up the position. These people to inform the secretary of their position, identity to be kept confidential. The three-person sub-committee who recommended the appointment of the 2011 manager to be asked to interview the candidates arising from this and recommend an appointment. If any individual on the previous sub-committee do not wish to serve this time, the county board executive to ask similar, highly-respected individuals to serve and seek approval of the board to appoint them to the sub-committee. 21. Two selection committees to be established, one for hurling and one for football. Committee to assess all candidates for role and make recommendation to county board. Committee to be comprised of two executive county board members, two county board delegates and one former senior intercounty player (retired no more than 20 years ago). Members of selection committee to serve no more than three years, team managers to appoint their own selectors and vacancies for team managers to be advertised. (Whitechurch)


22. The current U21 hurling management to be appointed the next senior hurling management. (Dohenys)
