Man Utd: Alex Ferguson has spent wisely and even if they fail to land Wesley Sneijdor United should retain their title.
Man City: Mancini’s caution means City will draw too many games. Their only hope of winning the title is if Carlos Tevez stays.
Chelsea: Ageing squad and an inexperienced manager means its third place at best for the Blues.
Liverpool: The Dalglish feel-good factor and Luis Suarez’s class can ensure a top four finish and lay the foundation for a title challenge next season.
Arsenal: Cesc Fabregas almost gone, Samir Nasri wants out and a porous defence means the Gunners will drop out of the top four.
Tottenham: Even if Modric stays Spurs‘ lack of firepower will let them down.
Everton: No money for investment means the Toffees will do well just to stand still.
Sunderland: Steve Bruce has signed 10 new players this summer with John O’Shea and Craig Gardner looking particularly astute purchases.
Stoke: The Potters have strengthened again and no one – either in the league or the Europa League - will fancy going to the Brittania.
Aston Villa: Ashley Young and Stewart Downing may have gone but Charles N’Zogbia and Shay Given are shrewd captures. A solid season is in store.
Fulham: Decent new manager, the same decent players should equal a decent season for the Cottagers.
West Brom: A shrewd manager and an exciting forward partnership in Peter Odemwingie and Shane Long will ensure the Baggies survive with a degree of comfort.
Bolton: With Daniel Sturridge gone back to Chelsea, Bolton will struggle for goals and the loss of some key players to long-term injury in pre-season will hit them hard.
Wolves: Mick McCarthy’s side will be well organised but will again struggle for goals.
Newcastle: No club does self-destruction like the Magpies and the loss of Kevin Nolan and the likely exit of Joey Barton means Alan Pardew’s side will struggle.
Blackburn: Steve Keen says Rovers will be in the Champions League in three or four years. The Championship looks a more likely bet.
Wigan: Pulled off a great escape last season but Charles N’Zogbia’s defection is a body-blow and the Latics only hope is that there might be three worse sides than them.
QPR: If Adel Taarabt is as good as he was at a lower level last season Neil Warnock’s side will survive. I have my doubts though.
Norwich: Paul Lambert is a talented young manager but the Canaries don’t have enough players of Premier League class.
Swansea: The Swans won’t score enough and will concede too many. The inevitable consequence will be an instant return to the Championship.
