88 new envoys get postings

Postings for 88 new ambassadors are ready and the Federal Government is only waiting for responses from the recipient countries before sending the new envoys to their duty posts, Daily Trust learnt in Abuja at the weekend.

Appointments for the new envoys were recently confirmed by the Senate and an induction was held for them.

Sources at the Foreign Affairs ministry said those likely to remain at their present postings are the Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Professor Adebowale Adefuye; High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Senator Dalhatu Tafida; and the Ambassador to China, Alhaji Aminu Wali.

Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, is being posted to Canada.

When Daily Trust contacted spokesman for the Foreign ministry, Mr. Ode Ogbole, he said the Federal Government was waiting for responses from the foreign countries before issuing letters of credence to the new ambassadors.
