IBB, Abdulsalami, Atiku, others meet over crises in North

The two former military heads of state, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and General Abdulsalami Abubakar were among the prominent Northern elders that converged in Minna yesterday for a 2-day meeting on the security and economic challenges facing the North.

The meeting was convened by the former Head of State General, Abdulsalami Abubakar, at his Maizube Farms which is 26 kilometres away from the state capital, Minna.

Speaking to newsmen, Babangida� said the meeting was summoned with the aim of� proffering solutions to the myriad of problems bedevilling the region.

He said security of lives and property was not only the responsibility of the government but religious, traditional leaders and prominent people.

Earlier in his speech, Abubakar said the problem of the North was caused by lack of visionary and practical economic initiatives.

Other prominent personalities in attendance are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Malam Adamu Ciroma, former SGF Yayale Ahmed, Senator Jibril Aminu, Senator John Shagaya, former Plateau State� Deputy Governor Pauline Tallen, among others.
