Assembly to prohibit sale of explosives

The Kaduna State House of Assembly would enact laws that would prohibit the sale of explosives and reactive agents in the state, a lawmaker said after yesterday?s explosion in the state capital that killed many people.

Police authorities had said the blast at Ogbomosho Road in Kaduna was caused by reactive agents in the affected shops, though witnesses dispute this assertion, saying it was a bomb that was hurled into the area.

Member representing Doka/Gabasawa Constituency in the State Assembly, Haruna Inuwa (Mabo), said the law would ensure safety of lives and property.

?Actually, it is not bomb that caused this explosion but reactive agents that the shop owners are selling. This place is under my constituency and because of what I have seen, I am going to push it in the House for a law to be made prohibiting the sales of such agents,? Inuwa said.
